Sonography - Banashree Nursing Home, Clinical Services

Sonography

Sonography is a procedure which is used to see the body soft tissues by using sound waves of ultra-short wave lengths. In Obstetrics it is a boon to see the foetal growth, anomaliesand foetal blood flow studies.

We at Banashree Nursing Home do early anomaly scan by 12 to 13 weeks where most of the major foetal anomalies are diagnosed. Like skull, brain, vertebral column, major limb anomalies, etc. By 18 weeks we can diagnose most of the foetal anomalies by Sonography, however all the anomalies may not be detected some may be missed. Detection of anomalies depend on foetal position in utero, liquor volume, & abdominal wall thickness of the woman undergoing Sonography.

In Gynaecology, Uterine anomalies, uterine fibroids, endometrial masses, ovarian tumours & cysts are easily diagnosed.

In Infertility, Sonography is of great help in procedures like

  • Sonosalpingography
  • Follicular study in evaluating follicle size, number
